01Introduction
Resonn (“we”, “us”, “our”) is operated by Michael Henning out of Lincoln, California, USA. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use Resonn at resonn.ai. By using Resonn, you agree to this policy.
02Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
Account information
Name, email address, password (handled via Clerk), and authentication tokens.
Resume content
Work history, education, skills, achievements, and contact information you choose to include in your resumes.
Job application data
Job descriptions you paste, target roles, application status, and notes.
Payment information
Payment information is handled entirely by Stripe — we never see or store your full credit card number. We receive only the last four digits and billing zip code from Stripe for display purposes.
Usage data
Pages visited, features used, error logs, IP address, and browser type. Used to improve the product and diagnose issues.
Voice recordings
If you use Voice Practice, your voice recordings are stored securely and retained until you delete them or close your account. You can delete any recording at any time from the session — this removes the audio file, transcript, and AI feedback together. Deleting your account removes all associated recordings.
03How We Use Your Information
- To provide the Resonn service (generating tailored resumes, ATS scoring, interview prep)
- To process payments and manage subscriptions
- To send transactional emails (account verification, billing receipts, password resets)
- To send product update emails (you can opt out anytime in Settings → Notifications)
- To improve the service through aggregate analytics
- To prevent fraud and enforce our Terms of Service
04AI and Your Data
Resonn uses AI (specifically Anthropic's Claude API) to generate tailored resumes, cover letters, and interview prep content. We send your resume content and the job descriptions you paste to Anthropic for processing. Anthropic's data handling is governed by their privacy policy and they do not retain or train models on data sent through their commercial API.
We do NOT train any AI models on your personal data. We do NOT sell your data to third parties. We do NOT use your resume content for any purpose other than providing you with the Resonn service.
05Data Sharing
We share data only with these service providers, all of whom are contractually required to protect your data:
- Anthropic (AI processing)
- Stripe (payment processing)
- Clerk (authentication)
- Supabase (database hosting)
- Vercel (web hosting)
- Google (Google Analytics — usage analytics)
- Resend or similar (transactional email)
We do NOT sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

You have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Right to access: request a copy of your data via mike@resonn.ai
- Right to delete: delete your account in Settings → Privacy & Data, or email us
- Right to correct: update your information directly in Settings

- EU residents: additional rights under GDPR including the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority
07Data Retention
We retain your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days. Some data may be retained longer if required by law (e.g., payment records for tax compliance). Anonymized aggregate data may be retained indefinitely.
08Security
We use industry-standard security practices: HTTPS encryption in transit, encrypted database storage, regular security updates, and authentication via Clerk (SOC 2 compliant). However, no online service is 100% secure. If we discover a data breach affecting your information, we will notify you within 72 hours of becoming aware.
10Children's Privacy
Resonn is intended for users 16 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16. If you believe we have collected such data, contact mike@resonn.ai and we will delete it.
